October Popular Mechanics
 

Just an FYI: The October issue of Popular Mechanics is all about self-reliance. I just picked one up this morning...haven't read it all yet, but it looks pretty decent. Lots of stories about people doing for themselves, and a number of articles about how self-reliance is undergoing a resurgence and more and more Americans are preparing for potential disasters (and all the articles have a "this is great and so American" tone to them). It seems we of the tinfoil beanie brigade are about to become trendy ...well, as trendy as being featured in Popular Mechanics makes one.
